Where washers tend to fail

Every style of washing machine, from stackables to big top loaders, breaks down in predictable ways. Below are six patterns we meet often, plus the pieces our techs inspect early.

Inspection sheet

Soggy load, full drum

Clothes come out soaked and the drum still holds water, usually traced to a clogged pump filter, a stuck impeller blade or a kinked drain line.

We check
  • Drain pump
  • Pump filter
  • Drain line

No spin at the end

The cycle reaches spin and nothing happens because a belt has stretched, the motor control is failing or the lid sensor never confirms it's shut.

We check
  • Drive belt
  • Motor control
  • Lid switch

Puddle under the machine

Water escapes past a torn boot seal, a loose tub connection or a cracked pump housing.

We check
  • Door boot
  • Tub fitting
  • Pump housing

Walking and banging on spin

Tired dampers, snapped support rods or a dying tub bearing turn every spin into a racket.

We check
  • Shock absorbers
  • Suspension rods
  • Tub bearing

Slow fill or none at all

Clogged inlet screens or a dead water valve leave the tub dry long after you press start.

We check
  • Inlet valve
  • Inlet screens
  • Pressure switch

Door stuck shut

The lock assembly stays engaged after the cycle, often because the control still senses water or the lock motor quit.

We check
  • Door lock
  • Pressure sensor
  • Control board

Washer codes, decoded

Speed Queen and Fisher & Paykel washers display these messages when a cycle stops. Some you can clear at home, others need a visit.

Laundry day back on track

How Lewisville households described the visit afterward.

Fair quote, quick work. The washer drains in seconds now instead of leaving a soggy mess.

Our machine would wander off its spot every spin and the noise sent the dog hiding. He had it steady and quiet before leaving, plus a tip on loading it so it stays balanced.
Fabiola T.Meadow Lake
Called on a Monday morning with my clothes locked inside. Had them out and the door working by early afternoon.

Try these before calling

A few minutes with these checks can save a service visit.

  • Pump filterFront loaders hide a little filter door near the floor. Pop it open and pull out coins, hair ties and lint.
  • Level footingRock the washer corner to corner. If it wobbles, turn the leveling legs so every corner rests solidly.
  • Load sizeA single heavy comforter can unbalance the drum. Wash bulky items alone or toss in two towels to even the weight.
  • Water supplyLook behind the machine: the two supply taps need to be open and the fill lines have no sharp bends.

Leave these to us

  • Motors, belts and bearings
  • Drain pumps and water valves
  • Control boards and door locks

Each of these repairs comes with a 90-day warranty on parts and labor.
